Irie's Guiding Fund, a scholarship in memory of Irie Elisabeth O'Shea
Irie Elisabeth O'Shea tragically passed away in a house fire at the young age of 17. Irie was a stand out junior at Wes Del Middle/High School in Muncie, Indiana, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, captain of the color guard team, and a tutor to younger students.
Irie was known for her kindness; always helping others and knew no stranger. Irie loved to help others learn and grow, it was one of her many passions. That passion fueled her desire to be a school counselor; her goal was to attend Ivy Tech and then Ball State University.
She left her print on me and everyone that had the good fortune to meet her. That will be her legacy. That she loved everyone and would without a doubt do anything for anyone. Irie inspired me to be a better person. Irie aspired to be a school counselor. She would have been a phenomenal counselor.
- Former Wes Del guidance counselor and coach, Tracy Chambers
Irie's family has established a scholarship in Irie's name at Ivy Tech Community College's Muncie Campus, to honor her memory. It is their wish that whomever receives the scholarship keeps Irie in head and heart, working to make the world a better, more accepting place as she strived for it to be. Recipients of the scholarship will be in good academic standing, 2.5 GPA or higher, and preference will be given to those with financial need.
