Hospitality Students Trip

Ivy Tech Evansville Hospitality students, under the leadership of Chef Watez Phelps, provide their time and talent through food creation and service with dozens of community organizations. A few of these include: March of Dimes Chef Auction, Evansville Philharmonic Brundibar Children's Orchestra, Aurora Gingerbread House competition, YWCA's annual women's luncheon, Ivy Tech Recipe for Success (see included video!) and Lampion Center's Chocolate Affair.

Experiential learning is essential for this program. Through these team projects, students learn to work more effectively together, developing a plan of action, and utilizing the unique qualities of each team member. In turn, the students learn real-life leadership skills, as well as how to apply critical thinking and adapt to changing circumstances.

Why Are We Raising Money? 

Eleven Hospitality students would like to gain knowledge about the hospitality industry and network with professionals in the field through a once in a lifetime experience of attending the National Restaurant Association Annual Conference, held in Chicago, IL. Some funds have been raised through bake sales, but additional support is needed. This conference is an invaluable learning opportunity and a once in a lifetime opportunity for upcoming graduates. This conference will  expose students to new culinary techniques and interaction with leading chefs from across the nation.

The total cost per student for this once in a lifetime trip is only $229.91!
