George’s culinary adventure started at Bordentown Military Institute, followed by a bachelor’s from Rochester Institute of Technology in Business and an associate’s from Johnson & Wales University in Culinary Arts.
In 1985, George infused the Midwest with East Coast flavors as the Assistant Food Director at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Four years later, he became an American Culinary Federation Certified Executive Chef, moving to Indianapolis to oversee three million meals annually at Methodist Hospital.
In 2001, George became the Food Service Director for the State of Indiana. By 2009, he launched Culinary Innovations, an upscale catering and consulting firm. As the consulting Executive Chef/Food Service Director of PMG, George brought his magic to INDY Car and ALMS Racing programs across the country, GMC NFL Monday Night Football tailgate events, the Indiana Superbowl Host Committee and the Indianapolis International Airport opening.
George’s unique East Coast and Caribbean flair earned him a feature in Savoy magazine and accolades from the Indiana Pork Producers annual competitions. His passion for teaching was captured through the many years he was an adjunct professor at Ivy Tech Community College’s Culinary Academy.
Chef G, as he was affectionately known, was a prominent member of the National Restaurant Association, River Bend Chef Society, and Greater Indianapolis Chef’s Association. In 2008, he catered for then Senator Obama at his campaign rally in Indianapolis, sparking rumors that the future President could taste the love in George’s Indiana hot water cornbread.
