A Student-Driven Fundraiser to Support Fellow Students
The Richmond campus Student Government Association (SGA) is working to establish a scholarship that will last for years to come to award and incentivize students to be active in campus student organizations.
SGA members see first-hand how their fellow students struggle for money, yet they take time off work to participate and support our campus' student organizations. This year for their legacy project, SGA would like to give back to those students who sacrifice so much to help better our campus.
Many Ivy Tech students juggle work and family while attending school. Students with jobs and a family have to take time off from work and pay a babysitter to be able to attend campus activities. This scholarship will provide an opportunity to give back to our students some of what they give up to support our organizations.
Student involvement increases student graduation rates, career readiness, and leadership development. Being involved in student organizations and events creates a sense of belonging. When a student feels as if they belong at their college, meeting new friends, and developing a great support system of students and employees, they are more likely to seek out for help with the situations that could keep them from graduating. When students are involved in organizations, they have the opportunity to strengthen their networking connections, meeting students and staff from all across the state. These connections can help them as they continue in both their educational and professional career paths. Student organizations and events provide holistic support to our students, while also helping our greater community. Our organizations offer life skills classes, career development workshops, wellness events, community outreach projects, community service projects, and so much more.
Every gift matters, regardless of the amount. By donating what you are able, it could mean the difference between a student's ability to continue their active support of a student organization or possibly even college altogether. Students at the Richmond campus will be eternally grateful for all your help to make this scholarship possible. Ivy Tech students are passionate about helping other people, the community, and their campus. Please join us in helping our fellow students.
Support from our Benefactors is critical to creating pathways to student success and a stronger Indiana!
