This scholarship is offered in memory of Lori Swazuk, a kind and beautiful woman who passed well before her time but not before raising her four children into hard working and compassionate adults. As her son, I want to continue her legacy further than she could have ever imagined and this scholarship is aimed to do just that.
As a Sonography student a decade ago and now an adjunct instructor, I have seen many students struggle to make ends meet financially while they strive to succeed in the classroom as well as in their clinical rotations. This scholarship is designed to give those students a little help and a little piece of mind while they focus on their studies and their patients.
Lori was a patient herself, needing around the clock care for over two years. She was blessed with professionals to care for her who were as hard working and as compassionate as she was. Although she was cared for in a facility miles away in another state, this scholarship is, in many ways, a thank you for their hard work. The Sonography program seeks people in the community who hold these same values. It is with gratitude that Lori’s legacy will live on through this scholarship to help those who want to help others.
Lori was a hard-working, loving and nurturing soul. She left this world a much better place just by being a part of it. She is greatly missed by many. For those who loved her dearly, as well as those who never got the chance to meet her, this scholarship is one way we are able to keep her legacy alive. Thank you for taking the time to visit this page and for your generosity.
Sincerely,
Brian Swazuk (Lori's youngest and fourth favorite child)
