What is PTK?
It’s only the largest and most prestigious honor society for two-year college institutions. Students must maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA while attending college full time (12 credit hours) and we’re proud to say the Evansville chapter’s cumulative GPA is 3.8!!
Ivy Tech Evansville’s Phi Theta Kappa students' (20 members) hard work has received the honor of being awarded 5-star chapter status, which meant completing at least 3 projects that are internationally recognized.
Membership in Phi Theta Kappa goes beyond the classroom…we’re out supporting activities on campus and in the community! We initiated Commit to Complete, the student committee project to complete what they started…their degree! One of our favorite events was the Laramie Project, a play and discussion based on the story of the 1998 hate crime murder of gay Wyoming college student Matthew Shepard.
By completing our projects, we gain leadership and communication skills which will help us advance in our future careers. Being a member of PTK has given us priceless friendships and opened networks between students and leading members of the community.
We need your help!
Every year PTK holds a huge international convention with speakers, other two-year colleges, and educational forums. This conference, in Orlando, Florida, is a requirement to become a 5-star chapter. Our chapter would like to bring this year’s 5 member officer team, who have been hard at work since summer planning fun events for the campus community.
We’ve raised $700 through on-campus fundraisers but we need your help to get us there! This conference is an invaluable learning opportunity and a once in a lifetime opportunity for us!
