The need for new agriculture training is great. Indiana has seen a large increase in the average age of its farm workers, and workforce forecasts show the need for an influx of workers to take over both traditional and emerging roles in the sector. Ivy Tech Terre Haute is committed to training this next generation of farm workers by teaching the skills necessary for a successful career.
The Precision Agriculture Equipment Technology program was designed collaboratively with business and industry leaders to best prepare students with the skills and abilities they need to maintain long careers in precision agriculture. Students in this program gain the hands on expertise necessary to operate and maintain state of the art precision agriculture equipment.
The Precision Agriculture Equipment Technology program is designed as a stackable program. Students in the program can choose from three areas of concentrations. Within a year, students earn a technical certificate in one of the three concentrations. They can then build, or stack, upon that certificate to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree.
To best prepare students for the workforce, this program is brand neutral. Students are exposed to a variety of equipment and technology brands so they understand the similarity and differences, as well as how they work together.
