A very generous anonymous donor recently gifted the Ivy Tech Richmond Foundation $25,000 to go toward Student Emergency Assistance, via Ivy CARES. The Foundation and Ivy Tech Richmond are incredibly grateful for the donation and the support of this amazing program. We cannot continue to support students without donations from the community, staff, faculty, and businesses. Thank you for your support of Ivy CARES.
Valerie Ray has been an employee at Ivy Tech for 38 years and is a long-time donor to the Ivy Tech Foundation. Val has witnessed the power of an endowment. An endowment is a gift that keeps on giving, by allowing the Foundation to use the earnings from the investment to continually pay out to students. Val has had first-hand experience working with students and has seen the struggles many of our Ivy Tech students face, from trouble paying rent and child care, to simply needing fuel or food. This experience gave Val the strong desire to leave her own powerful gift for future students. This $10,000 gift gets us so much closer to helping students minimize or eliminate barriers they face through the Ivy CARES program and financial assistance. Thank you Valerie Ray for offering future assistance to students facing barriers.
The needs are many. We have learned that all gifts are important; when we combine our giving (at whatever level), we really do make an impact.
Students regularly cannot come to class because they do not have enough funds for fuel for their vehicle or to pay for child care. Some also come to class hungry. There are a number of barriers why a student will put on hold their dream of a better future for themselves and their family. $25 can help make a dream come true.
Assist students in minimizing out-of-pocket costs to ensure their continued success in their coursework and educational goals. It is a struggle for students who are facing poverty to afford housing, food, clothes....basic necessities.
Students can be one flat tire away from dropping out. Unexpected emergencies happen all the time that causes students to stop attending or drop out of college.
Your gift will truly change the life of a student who may be struggling to pay rent, afford their utilities, or other life issues.
